Yes, from "malus" in Latin. (compare "mal" in Esperanto etc.) From which we get malicious (see the etymology there) and then malware, which definitely comes from "malicious software" with the meaning of intentionally bad. Cheers! Robert Ullmann 06:59, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
