Sanskrit[edit]

I was directed to this page by clicking on a link that referred to Sanskrit manu (meaning man, mankind, or the eponymous ancestor of mankind and also a personal name). Should a Sanskrit section be added? --Grammatical error 18:43, 28 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No, Sanskrit should not be added under "manu". We do not include transliterations into the English Wiktionary, unless they have been absorbed by the English language and have themselves become part of the English language. The Sanskrit term for "manu" should be written in Devanagari script and a transliteration should be provided in the body of that entry. --Dijan 18:47, 28 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I thought so, but the link that brought me here was transliterated "manu" rather than मनु. I've removed it now. --Grammatical error 19:15, 28 March 2006 (UTC) I think the Sanskrit meaning of Manu should be added to the list, just like its etymologies from other cultures. In Akan Twi, it is the name of a man, who is a second born. Kwaku Agyei-Fosu January 01, 2007[reply]
