to miss (verb) - to yearn, to long for, to pine?[edit]

There's no definition for the very common English meaning of the verb to miss (verb) - to yearn, to long for, to pine? Anatoli 23:43, 12 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

But it is there, To feel the absence of someone or something, sometimes with regret. - the implication of absence means that this verb expresses the aspiration, desire for something which one had possessed and was deprived of, whereas one can also yearn, long for things never descried. It would be good if some native English speaker verifies whether I am right. Spoken in German terms, this is nearer to de:nachhängen than to de:lechzen.
