There is a lack of information on the origin of this particular word online. Any online dictionary which includes mention of this word merely refers back to this article. There are several uses of this word in anthropomorphic literature, with the most prominent I've seen being the children's book "Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree" from 1993, based on the 1966 short film of the same name (which itself lacks the word "pawful").
