Talk:pennon

I came across another good quote using the word "pennon," which is what brought me here.

In G. K. Chesterton's short story "The Hammer of God" in the Father Brown mystery series, the second paragraph begins, "The Bohuns were one of the very few aristocratic families really dating from the Middle Ages, and their pennon had actually seen Palestine."

According to a claim (not actually verified by me) at http://www.literaturepage.com/disclaimer.html this story is over 70 years old and its copyright has expired. I believe it was first published in 1911 as part of the collection The Innocence of Father Brown Yes, I have another source at http://www.classiccrimefiction.com/chestertonbib.htm confirming that The Innocence of Father Brown was first published in London by Cassell in 1911.

Feel free to add any citations you have, preferably with the relevant publication details etc. so users can verify the information if necessary. Don't worry about copyright - it's perfectly OK to quote short extracts in support of a work like this. Widsith 20:50, 9 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
