'misleading'?[edit]
I understand this word can mean not just 'exaggerating', but actually intending to mislead.
The definitions at https://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/dictionary/english/posturing ("make people believe something that is not true") and https://www.dictionary.com/browse/posturing ("artificial, hypocritical, or calculated to mislead") also support this.
