Talk:proso millet

Added 糜 (méi) & 黃米 (huángmǐ) as Chinese translations of proso millet. Just came across 糜子 in a Q&A about millet names (http://www.shanzhaiba.com/detail75869/ scroll down beyond products, or search "Panicum"), which Google translate turned into "scorpion" and Systranet didn't know what to do with ("mizi"). 糜 does not appear in Francesca Bray's brief but very helpful list of Chinese terms for proso and foxtail millet (her 1981 JATBA article cited on 黃米 page or list on p. 440 of Science and Civilisation in China, Volume 6. Biology and Biological Technology, Part 2. Agriculture, CUP, 1984). However it is thankfully here on WT. 黃米, usually as "大黃米" appears on product labels that correctly identify the contents as proso (not all do). Some info has 黃米 equated to glutinous millet, but in fact there are glutinous varieties of both proso and foxtail, so this may be just one colloquial shading on the term.--A12n (talk) 16:18, 1 September 2018 (UTC)
