[edit]I think the definition given is not correct. 'proto-orthodox' as far as I know refers to one specific group of early Christians; namely those whose beliefs ended up becoming dominant (orthodox). So e.g. Gnostics also existed "before Christianity had agreed upon standards", but they are not considered 'proto-orthodox'. This is at least how Bart Ehrman uses it.
Also, maybe the main form should be hyphenated. 70.172.194.25 04:54, 24 April 2022 (UTC)
