These etymologies are wrong the word cleary comes from a slavic word [puši, pišti]. First rifles and guns smouldered when fired and they most certainly made noise. Where do you get these boxes to indicate a weapon I don't know but it clearly isn't very reliable? Old High German was spoken at a time when a gun wasn't invented. I've checked 2 dictionaries and they all trace it to OHG būhse/a "box, casket". We cannot just make wild guesses on etymologies if they have no scholarly support. --Ivan Štambuk 16:55, 28 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
