To put the kibosh on a fun event is correct but my grandmother from County Kerry, Ireland, not a learned person, but who spoke Irish, said it referred to a cap that was traditionally placed on the head of the deceased during a wake. It was spelled Caipin bais, but pronounced "ki - bosh." — This unsigned comment was added by User:Ramaporoge (talkcontribs).
