What's with the strange etymology?[edit]

There are two words "rachetă" in Romanian. Rachetă (1) "rocket" is borrowed from German Rakete. Rachetă (2) "racquet, racket, implement with a handle connected to a round frame" is borrowed from French raquette. Romanian does not change the vowels arbitrarily when borrowing Italian words, so Italian rocchetta would have given **rochetă. Imerologul (talk) 22:01, 29 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
