Talk:recessionista
If a fashionista is -
"A person who creates or promotes high fashion, i.e. a fashion designer or fashion editor.
Etymology - The word appeared as early as 1993, and is a combination of fashion and the Italian or Spanish suffix: -ista. Compares to other -ista neologisms such as barista, Sandinista, Peronista, Guardianista" (http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/fashionista)
Then a Recessionista cannot be a 'fashionista' with a (real or 'fashionably') low budget.
But (I propose) should more appropriately (and in etymological terms - more logically) be - "a serious news correspondent, hack or other creator, peddler, or promoter of doom laden fiscal and global downturn misery."
In support of premis - 'Divas of doom', 'Bleak is chic' http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20090227.wbloodpointerhome/BNStory/crashandrecovery/home
