I'm not sure if this is in the right context:

• 1760, Tobias Smollett, The Adventures of Sir Launcelot Greaves, published 1832, page 74:

  For my part, I believe as how 'tis no horse, but a devil incarnate; and yet, I've been worse mounted, that I have. I'd like to have rid a horse that was foaled of an acorn.
