I think if the Dostoevsky quote is to be relevant. It should be established that he used, or explicitly and personally suggested, the use of the word "rigamarole". Otherwise the blind error of a translator is very poor basis for an established alternate spelling of the word "rigmarole"

I agree that Dostoevsky is irrelevant here, since it is not he but Ms Garnett who is being quoted; nonetheless her apparently countable use of "a rigamarole" is quite interesting. -- Visviva 17:48, 30 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
