I.IMO DEF 1 & 3 are muddled, indistinct...the quotation does not establish 1 as an independent meaningful definition...I'd condense them on the basis that these speculations are encyclopedist trivia. Who cares how one gets to samadhi, via death,sitting meditation,kundalini yoga, it's irrelevant to the definition.

II.Also, union with what or whom? Atman? The Trinity? Sri Chinmoy? Prabhubada? Why not just define it as a transcendent state and leave it at that.

I always viewed samadhi as being more about the state of consciousness (Da-sein, De.) and not to quibble about subject-object, neither to assert nor deny it.

III.Well, who am I to edit that? At any rate, (1) is not the primary definition it should, de minimis, be moved down to position (3). Geof Bard 05:20, 18 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
