- -ost suffix binds the oblique stem without the "fleeting a" if the ultimate syllable is short. The adjective samopožrtvovan has two pronunciation: samopòžrtvōvan (yielding the abstract noun samopožrtvóvnōst) and samopòžrtvovān (yielding the abstract noun samopòžrtvovānōst). Both are thus valid, and should be treated as alternative forms of each other. --Ivan Štambuk 21:49, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
