Talk:scam

What is the origon of scam? I know it started as to be fashionably bandied about in the 80's but is it just another of those rediscovered words that grabs the imagination at the time? — This unsigned comment was added by Chasludo (talk • contribs) at 15:47, 6 January 2009.

I don't know the origin of "scam", but it's interesting to compare with French escamoter and Spanish escamotear. The root "scam" is present in those, and the meanings are vaguely similar.
