Why is there a plural article with a singular noun?

I believe it should be serrare le file (although fila does exist as an archaic plural of filo (thread), it has nothing to do with that). – GianWiki (talk) 14:29, 30 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

As far as I can tell, no. Zingarelli has the entry as "serrare le file, le fila," so both are completely fine. I don't even think one is less common, or archaic, or anything that would merit a label. Imetsia (talk) 14:27, 1 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
