Pronunciation[edit]

I have removed the following from Appendix:Irregular verbs:English.

Shone is pronounced /ʃoʊn/ (enPR: shōn, like tone) in US English, but in British and Australian English it is pronounced /ʃɒn/ (shŏn, like "gone"). In Canadian English either pronounce may be encountered.

AHD supports /ʃoʊn/. Cambridge only recognises /ʃɒn/ (even for the US pronunciation). Do we have anything backing the Canadian pronunciation up? Jimp 03:29, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The rather strange U.S pronunciation mentioned here can be heard being said by the actress playing Angela Valdez in the TV series ‘Power’ S4E5 at around 45 mins in. Overlordnat1 (talk) 21:39, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
