slither + -izz-, not slurred + -izz-?
[edit]I've heard an explanation for the lyrics to "Like a G6" that said "slizzard" means "intoxicated" and derives from "slurred" with an "-izz-" infix.
Where does the "slithered" explanation come from? I find it unlikely that it would result in "slizzard" instead of "slizzithered" or "slithizzered". 2001:240:2428:1B27:F240:6DD:226C:5F85 07:21, 3 June 2024 (UTC)
- That sounds reasonable to me. The slither explanation is copied straight from Green's dictionary, which is a great source but whose etymologies are sometimes questionable. You might want to consult the Wiktionary:Etymology scriptorium. Ioaxxere (talk) 05:19, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
