Claims of Finnish calque

"Småkusin" for second cousin is attested from authors such as Strindberg, who are not Finland-Swedish and who can not be assumed to have been influenced by Finnish. Småkusin *and* pikkuserku are more likely a calque from french petit cousin. But the standard assumption Swedes from Sweden make when encountering deviations from modern standard Swedish in Finland is "Finnish influence", even when the same expression can be found among "properly" Swedish authors of past decades. According to this source, it is rather the Finnish word that is a calque of the Swedish term, and not vice versa, so it seems like you’re correct. I’ll remove that particular piece of information. --Lundgren8 (t · c) 05:23, 13 August 2022 (UTC)
