Talk:sophisticated

I am concerned about the differences between the definitions between the words "sophomore", "sophomoric", and "sophisticate(d)". I believe that people who are "sophomoric" are anything but sophisticated, by our modern definitions. Do the root words tell us why there is a discrepancy here?
