This word is more common in speech than in writing, but it does turn up in print occasionally. Various alternate spellings are attested (though I don't have examples handy), and the majority/correct spelling may be debatable. The word may be pronounced with either three or four syllables, depending on dialect (e.g., in Ohio it is generally three syllables, but answers.com says four).

M-W online has an entry for the word, but I didn't see the definition there (since I do not have an account there). jewishworldreview.com gives an etymology which, they admit, is probably at least partly fanciful.
