metaphorical sense

The citations have a lot of metaphorical uses. I know Wiktionary usually omits those if they are easily inferred from a concrete sense; what do y'all think in this case? Maybe something like 'competition or confrontation with potential for humiliation'. Arlo Barnes (talk) 22:19, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
