I heard the (a) story of "Sufferin' Succotash:" Succotash might have been the name of one of (the) Powhatan's brothers and he wanted the settlers gone. When they asked for food he brought them a mixture of rotting corn and Lima beans thinking it would drive them away, but instead--they LOVED it! Probably the fact that the new arrivals had such bad taste and just the fact of their presence drove him crazy.
