Talk:tangental
This is not a misspelling. It is found as an alternate spelling in many larger dictionaries. It is simply less common.

I have not looked in many larger dictionaries, because none were close at hand. I have looked in the following physical dictionaries and "tangental" (without the "i") was NOT listed:
2007, The American Heritage Dictionary, Fourth Edition (abridged), New York, Bantam Dell, page 837.
2005, Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, Eleventh Edition (abridged), Springfield, Massachusetts, Merriam-Webster, Incorporated, page 1276.
Without providing your sources . . . Well, I fear I cannot cite your word alone as definitive.
Thank you.
