Pronunciation[edit]

What is the correct pronounciation for the word "texted"? I understand that there is a debate about whether "texted" is even a word. However, considering the fact that language is ever-changing, the correct pronounciation for "texted" should be determined.

I use text as the past tense of text and people don't correct me over it. I'm not unique in using it either, but I think texted is more common. Mglovesfun (talk) 10:25, 15 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
Do you mean in speech or writing? It seems very common in speech, but I'm not sure how people would spell it. Siuenti (talk) 10:28, 15 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
You are correct that it's more of a spoken thing; I would write it text but that's useless for our purposes. We need some books and Usenet citations. Mglovesfun (talk) 10:31, 15 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
There are already citations for it at Citations:text, but the main page at text doesn't mention it. Siuenti (talk) 10:14, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
It obviously should; now I'd like to see some sort of evidence that texted is pronounced /tɛkst/, though I haven't removed it; I've merely tagged it with {{rfv-pronunciation}} which links here. Mglovesfun (talk) 10:24, 16 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
