Can the spelling tradeoff be added in this entry, and can it be mentioned which spelling is more standard or more commonly used? 71.66.97.228 04:43, 23 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]


Shouldn't the plural be trades-off? Most other dictionaries list "trade-offs," but according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_plural#Plurals_of_compound_nouns it seems like it should be "trades-off." 24.130.58.130 22:10, 15 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

But it isn't a compound noun; the compound is from a noun and an adverb/preposition. Also, not all compound nouns pluralize the first element, hence cowboys and not cowsboy. --EncycloPetey 00:12, 16 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
