Spelling question

[edit]

Is it correct that the title of this entry has "natʼáʼiʼ " spelled with only one "A" following the initial "n," while chidí naatʼaʼí (which would seem to be a component of this term, which should be wikilinked in the inflection line) has two? 71.66.97.228 05:55, 6 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi, what was the answer to this question? I cannot find the comments I left at nv:WP; are editors actually removing comments? There are at least three comments I recall leaving there, yet the talk pages are redlinked, containing nothing. It makes it hard to track the effort to improve our projects if talk page comments left in good faith are regularly and habitually removed. 71.66.97.228 06:30, 7 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

It is best to use the spelling naatʼaʼí. It is common to see a final -í written as -iʼ, but the accepted spelling is naatʼaʼí. —Stephen 08:33, 7 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. Could you please let me know about the habitual removal of talk page comments at nv:WP, a practice that seems to be going strong? I had earlier wondered if my comments were disappearing without first being read or answered, and now I am certain of it. As we all are, I am only working to build our encyclopedias and do not edit at nv:WP because of my lack of experience in the language (although I am starting stubs here, usually for nouns that already have nv:WP articles, always with "attention" tags so that you and those more experienced in Navajo may add to them). 71.66.97.228 19:33, 10 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

That is something that User:seb tends to do. I assume that he is new to the Wikimedia projects and just sees it as clean-up work. At the moment it’s not really a problem and it won’t worry me until we get more contributors. By that time, seb will probably have developed more experience. —Stephen 06:11, 11 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
