Age group[edit]

The first definition given is, "The age group that includes 20 through 29-year-olds." That sounds to me like the definition for twenty-somethings instead of twenties. Have I just missed that usage or do I misunderstand the definition? Rodasmith 22:01, 24 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm. We are experiencing some sort of semantic impedance. I cannot say, "look at the twenties loitering on Broadway" because the word twenties does not name a group of people. People in their twenties, however, does name a group of people. The word twenties names something in which those people are. Specifically, it names a decade of each person's life. When you say that your son is a twenty-something, you are saying that he is a member of the group called twenty-somethings. Rodasmith 22:22, 24 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
