Senses

@Sgconlaw thanks for getting around to this one. Senses 2.1 and 2.2 have been bugging me for a while and I think there's actually a four-way distinction:

  1. To replace (from a position or office)
  2. To oust (from a position or office) [with no implication of replacement]
  3. To replace (from a general state of dominance)
  4. To oust (from a general state of dominance) [with no implication of replacement]

I can't decide if this represents four senses or two senses or one—reorganize them however you like. Ioaxxere (talk) 01:44, 22 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
