You can not say "Vera á gönguferð" and it does not mean "to hike". Direct icelandic-english translation of "vera á gönguferð" is "to be on a hike" but you can't say you are "on "a hike in icelandic.

"To hike" is "að ganga". "To be on a hike" is "Að vera að ganga" or "Að vera í gönguferð".

I didn't want to change the article as I'm not familiar with Wiktionary (merely Wikipedia), I thought en.wiktionary should only contain english words? —This unsigned comment was added by Karihre (talkcontribs) 2006-07-03 09:36:15.

English Wiktionary is written in English but is a dictionary of all words in all languages (subject to certain criteria for inclusion). To dispute the existence of a word, add the template {{rfv}} to the entry. Rod (A. Smith) 06:08, 4 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
