Etymology[edit]

I have already wondered: Can its root be the Slavic reflex of the IE root *wordh-, *word-, which has not been quite known to the etymological dictionaries?--Imz 15:50, 3 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Now, there is an answer there: No. (Expanded also at Etymology of Slovene vrtnica “rose”. Can it be the Slavic reflex of PIE *wr̥dʰos “sweetbriar”? at Linguistics.StackExchange.)--Imz (talk) 03:33, 11 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
