Usage
This template may be used in "References" sections and on talk pages to cite the online mineral database Mindat.org. It can be used to create a link to the website.
Parameters
The template takes the following parameters:
|1=or|entry=– the name of the mineral. If this parameter is omitted, the template defaults to the name of the Wiktionary entry.|2=or|id=– the mineral ID as indicated in the URL of the webpage to be linked to. For example, if the URL ishttps://www.mindat.org/min-1209.html, specify|id=1209. If this parameter is omitted, the ID will be looked up from a built-in database at Module:R:Mindat/data.|glossary=– if citing the glossary section of the website, specify|glossary=1or|glossary=yes.|3=,|text=, or|passage=– a passage to be quoted.|nodot=– by default, the template adds a full stop (period) at the end of the citation. To suppress this punctuation, use|nodot=1or|nodot=yes.
Examples
- Wikitext:
{{R:Mindat}}(if used in the entry copper); or{{R:Mindat|entry=native copper|id=1209|passage=Copper was one of the first metals to be worked into implements and the first metal to be smelted from ores.|nodot=1}}; or{{R:Mindat|native copper|1209|Copper was one of the first metals to be worked into implements and the first metal to be smelted from ores.|nodot=1}}
- Result: “native copper”, in Mindat.org, Keswick, Va.: Hudson Institute of Mineralogy, 2000–2026: “Copper was one of the first metals to be worked into implements and the first metal to be smelted from ores.”
