Sanskrit Pronunciation

This module provides IPA pronunciation for the Vedic and Classical dialects of Sanskrit using Module:sa-pronunc as a backend.

Usage

The template automatically uses the page name, but accepts the following optional arguments:

• |1= or |w=:

  The Devanagari input for template to render

• |a=, |a2=, |a3= ... |aN=:

  For (space-delimited) word N, which syllable possesses the Vedic pitch accent.

• |novedic=
• Turns off the Vedic output

Example usage

The pronunciation for जेषः स्वर्वतीरपः (jeṣáḥ svarvatīrápaḥ): {{sa-IPA|जेषः स्वर्वतीरपः|a=2|a2=4}}

• (Vedic) IPA^(key): /d͡ʑɐj.ʂɐ́h sʋɐɾ.ʋɐ.tiː.ɾɐ́.pɐh/
