Template:sense

Definition from Wiktionary, the free dictionary

:

This template is used to specify a sense qualifier (a gloss) for a usage note, synonym, antonym or other -onym. Consider using one of the templates syn, ant, hypo etc. instead, which are placed directly under the appropriate sense and thus make indicating the sense unnecessary.

Do not use sense in the following cases:

 • To provide a context for a definition, use label instead.
 • To qualify a list item with something other than a sense gloss (e.g. to qualify a synonym with a region or register), use qualifier instead.
 • To format glosses in definitions of non-English words, use gloss instead.

Example

Synonyms
* an oath or affirmation promise, vow, word informal
