The parameters |1= and |termlang=

Hi, @Benwing2, I'm having some difficulty understanding how |1= (|lang=) and |termlang= work. In this quotation template, I used |1=enm as it is a work written in Middle English. However, editors may specify |termlang=en if using it in a modern English entry. According to {{quote-book}}, specifying |termlang= should override |1=. However, I note that in the entry mercurial, on which the quotation template has been used, the template still asks for an English translation of the passage quoted to be provided and categorizes the entry into "Category:Middle English usage examples with the translation missing".
