@Sgconlaw: I believe the first edition of the OED is out of copyright, as has been mentioned at the Information desk, although I am not sure about the supplement. Would using one of the quotations (which—for now, at least—cannot be viewed anywhere else) for a Middle English entry fall under fair use? J3133 (talk) 09:59, 27 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

@J3133: Do you mean a quotation from a Middle English text, or a quotation from the text of the 1st edition of the OED? Either way, I’d say both are now in the public domain, especially the former. — Sgconlaw (talk) 10:14, 27 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
