I'd want to change the -ais endings to -ois, I think these verbs predate the -ais endings, so reconnoissoient, not -aient. Mglovesfun (talk) 11:57, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The 1835 orthographical reform changed the -oître to -aître; thus -ois to -ais. The reason I made this template is because in very old texts one might encounter reconnoître. But in modern French, no one has spelt it reconnoître for over a hundred years. It would be like spelling "book" as "booke", for example. It would be the older spelling, but is now considered wholly incorrect. --Île flottante 14:40, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
