Some changes[edit]
I made some changes (haven't finished) but it seems it had no effect on Медведев. --Anatoli 01:09, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
- It did now. I changed to "|о". The inanimate doesn't make sense in the surname, neither does the neuter. Don't know how to remove it, though. Медведево can be a village name. Note that the city Ivanovo (Ива́ново) has the accent on a different syllable from the Russian surname Ivanov (Ивано́в). --Anatoli 01:12, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
- When you change the template, in order to see the change on the page that uses it, you have to either 1) add the ?action=purge in the page URL (in this case, http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Медведев?action=purge), or 2) use a "blank edit" on the page that uses the changed template: just clicking the edit button and saving without actually changing anything in the entry. --Ivan Štambuk 01:55, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

- The inanimate remark is hard to remove, because this template uses another more basic template,

Thank you. The instrumental case and the trend not to decline place words ending in -ов(о), -ёво, -ево, -ино are confirmed here:

Both forms are OK.
Place words, unlike surnames, have endings -ом:
