What's this for? It's not obvious to me. Mglovesfun (talk) 11:58, 19 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

See sinciput#Latin for an example of its use. — Raifʻhār Doremítzwr ~ (U · T · C) ~ 12:34, 19 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
That seems like a bad usage to me; it breaks up the numbering of the sense into #1, #2, #1, #2 instead of #1, #2, #3, #4. Isn't {{by extension}} a better template? Or maybe {{transferred}} just on its own? Mglovesfun (talk) 12:41, 19 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
Well, it's actually #1, #2, #3.1, #3.2, except our presentation doesn't make that very clear; we could have #1, #2, #3, #4 instead and have {{transferred sense}} used twice (or something), if you think that would be better. I don't know about {{by extension}}, but transferred sense is a specific lexicographic term, used by the OED and others, so I created a template for it. I've also created {{transf.}} as a redirect to {{transferred sense}}, because it's an abbreviation that the OED uses. — Raifʻhār Doremítzwr ~ (U · T · C) ~ 15:56, 24 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
