- That seems like a bad usage to me; it breaks up the numbering of the sense into #1, #2, #1, #2 instead of #1, #2, #3, #4. Isn't

a better template? Or maybe{{transferred}}

- Well, it's actually #1, #2, #3.1, #3.2, except our presentation doesn't make that very clear; we could have #1, #2, #3, #4 instead and have
{{transferred sense}}
used twice (or something), if you think that would be better. I don't know about{{by extension}}
, but transferred sense is a specific lexicographic term, used by the OED and others, so I created a template for it. I've also created{{transf.}}
as a redirect to{{transferred sense}}
