Etymology

From Berber ⵜⵉⴼⵉⵏⴰⵖ (tifinagh, "the Berber letters" or "the Berber script"), traditionally written as ⵜⴼⵏⵗ or ⵜⴼⵉⵏⵗ. It it the plural of ⵜⴰⴼⵉⵏⵖⵜ (tafineght, "One letter of the Berber script").
