From Berber ⵜⵉⴼⵉⵏⴰⵖ (tifinagh, "the Berber letters" or "the Berber script"), traditionally written as ⵜⴼⵏⵗ or ⵜⴼⵉⵏⵗ. It it the plural of ⵜⴰⴼⵉⵏⵖⵜ (tafineght, "One letter of the Berber script").
