Possibly from atsooʼ ‎(tongue) + dził ‎(mountain). Another theory is that is comes from tsodizin ‎(prayer) + dził ‎(mountain).

One of the six sacred mountains of the Navajo. Tsoodził, associated with dootłʼizhii (turquoise) and the color blue, marks the southern boundary of Dinétah.
