Professional Interests

I have been messing around with computers since the late 60's.
My high school had a computer club with a telex connected to a mainframe at IIT ... and a whole lot of punched tape.
My first 15 years as a software engineer (formerly known as a "Programmer") was devoted to developing accounting and crop management software for the agricultural industry. I then spent 20 years in the telecommunications sector developing DOCSIS cable modems and termination systems. I was an early contributor to the DOCSIS specs, and have patents in the field.
My last 5 years was spent as a Software Quality Engineer at an Aeronautical Engineering firm.
Personal Interests

- I play the pipe organ and piano
- I have been known to torture the clarinet and french horn, and most recently the contrabass
- I support community based music organizations
