⟨r⟩ = /e/?[edit]

I don't know any Azerbaijani, but I feel like "⟨r⟩ = /e/" is probably a typo. —Mahāgaja · talk 16:08, 9 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, fixed! The only things remaining is someone who can work with me on the template. Ketiga123 (talk) 17:00, 9 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Allophones[edit]

To what degree are the phonological rules on the page changes/mergers in phonemes, and to what degree are they merely allophonic variations in pronunciation? —Rua (mew) 18:32, 11 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Rua. I think it is about allophonic pronunciation all way through, but I am not sure what you mean. Can you specify your question? Ketiga123 (talk) 19:29, 11 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I see that there is a rule that parlaq: /pɑrˈɫɑɡ/ → [pɑˈrːɑχ], but /χ/ is a phoneme, so it should be written /pɑˈrːɑχ/ right? —Rua (mew) 19:30, 11 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
That's a good question. [χ] is either (the one and only) realization of the phoneme /χ/ or one of the realizations of the phoneme /ɡ/. In this particular case, word-finally after a back-vowel. Now, all the following relaizations of /pɑrˈɫɑɡ/ are possible: [pɑrˈɫɑɡ, pɑrˈɫɑχ, pɑˈrːɑχ], but the first one sounds bookish and rare, while the last one sounds most informally.
