About Proto-Italic entries

[edit]

Hello, have you seen the following discussion about criteria for including Proto-Italic entries? It's been decided not to have entries for terms that only have an attested descendant in Latin. So Wiktionary has stricter criteria for inclusion in this regard than De Vaan. It's also possible that sequences like -ngʷ- or -nǵʰ- yielded plosives rather than fricatives already in Proto-Italic, although this seems to be somewhat debated: if you're familiar with this question, any input you have to add at Wiktionary talk:About Proto-Italic or Wiktionary:About Proto-Italic/sandbox would be welcome. Thanks for thanks for your contributions to the dictionary! Urszag (talk) 08:54, 25 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

No I haven't checked that, thank you for notifying me! Does this mean that all the Proto-Italic entries with only Latin descendance are going to be removed? Antares gaming (talk) 10:46, 25 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes, if no other descendants can be added (as for entries such as *komgʷənjō, *wreweidsō, *fēsios), entries with only Latin descendants will eventually be removed.--Urszag (talk) 11:11, 25 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
