Hi Diderot. Nice work on the Chinese compound words. On linking, I think we should link to whole words everywhere except the "headword" section where we should link each character individually. So in the link to the simplified or traditional equivalent the links should be to the whole compound word please. — Hippietrail 10:12, 14 May 2004 (UTC)

Okay, I'll do it that way. I'm not sure if it might not make just as much sense to write the pages as entries for both and use a redirect. It's not like it has a different meaning with traditionl characters. Diderot 10:17, 14 May 2004 (UTC)

From what I've read sometimes they will differ. Sometimes Taiwan or Singapore will use a different term from the PRC so I guess collisions are possible too. But more importantly, some simplified forms are used in place of multiple traditional forms, so that mapping isn't always 1:1. But if I were you I wouldn't bother doing both versions unless you really want to. Somebody else will do the traditional stuff sooner or later. Keep up the cool work! —

Practical Chinese Reader It's the Chinese text that is published by the Beijing Culture and Language University and written with the HSK - the Chinese equivalent of the TOEFL - in mind. Basically, they translate the text into every language in the world and almost everybody studies from nearly identical texts. It totally dominates the Chinese second language market and has for some 20 years now. The new edition came out a couple years ago with revised vocabulary lists, thus the "New PCR".
