[edit]

OED says - Etymology: Middle English trukie, < French troquer to truck, shop, barter, exchange (Cotgrave), Norman-Picard form of Old French *trocher, in medieval Latin trocāre (1257 in Cartulary, Hatzfeld & Darmesteter), French has also verbal n. troc, †troq barter, Portuguese troca = Spanish trocar, Portuguese trocar, Italian truccare (Florio, 1598): of unknown origin: see suggestions in Diez. It is linking to Spanish future subjunctive of trocare, there is no Latin word defined there.Ryanvward (talk) 17:15, 15 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
