Middle English and RFV

[edit]

Hi there. I noticed you added an "English" section to the entry toret. There are a couple of issues with this:

  • At Wiktionary, works before the year 1500, including the Book of Saint Albans and Chaucer, are treated as Middle English, not English.
  • The term toret failed a request for verification last year. This request is archived on the talk page: Talk:toret. This failure means that no evidence for use of the word in Modern English was found. If you can find three uses in running text of this word in post-1500 texts, you're welcome to recreate the entry with this evidence.

In general, if you see that the "Discussion" tab along the top of the page is blue, you should always check what's there before you proceed to add a new entry. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask me. Thanks! This, that and the other (talk) 02:04, 31 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
