Phonetic transcription

[edit]

Hi I am new to this site. I am trying to Edit San Juan Quiahije Chatino and as point of entry I am trying to add an alternative Phonetic transcription. I am a native speaker and a linguists who specializes in this language. Could you help? Thanks. XwiBchaqF (talk) 23:46, 16 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

I need to confirm that this effort is worthwhile. I'm concerned about investing my time and energy if there's a risk that my work might be discarded or deleted. Can you assure me that my contributions will be valued and preserved? XwiBchaqF (talk) 23:55, 16 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi there! So glad to see your contributions--it made my day. :)
There is no need to worry about your contributions being taken down. Most of what I have come across are suggestions from other Wiktionary contributors. So, please be assured in continuing your work on the SJQ Chatino project on Wiktionary! Please let me know if you have other questions or concerns. I owe this all to you your publications and your videos. I published my first noun today. The word for cicada, check out my example :) https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Tyi%E1%B4%AC XwiBchaqF (talk) 18:46, 22 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for reassuring me that my publications won't be deleted :). Hope all is well with you! XwiBchaqF (talk) 18:59, 22 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Awh, thank you! That means a great deal coming from a native speaker :)
I just saw your entry and it looks amazing! When you do upload, please make sure to enter the capitalised tone instead of the superscript ('TyiA' instead of 'Tyiᴬ'). Some people may have difficulties navigating superscript keyboards or figuring the process out, so we want to make it easier to access the words in this online dictionary without the use of superscript keyboards. In brief: accessibility is very important when submitting new terms.
I hope this makes sense. Please let me know if you ever need help! I'll try to get back to you in a timely fashion. Happy editing. Stalslinguistics (talk) 19:55, 22 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Great point, thank you so and this makes perfect sense. Could I change the Tyiᴬ for a tyiA? Thank you. XwiBchaqF (talk) 00:24, 23 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
